Tulip Tree Health Care Grant

Foundation Awards Grant to Tulip Tree Family Health Care

The Smithville Charitable Foundation has awarded a $50,000 to the Gibson County Community Foundation.  The Smithville Charitable Foundation is a private foundation set up by the owners of Smithville Communications, Inc.  The main goal of the Smithville Charitable Foundation is to enrich the lives of those around us by creating opportunities and bringing necessities to communities in our areas. They are making grants and partnering with community foundations to achieve its goals.  “We are pleased to partner with the Gibson County Community Foundation in helping meet the requests of our subscribers and the county,” stated Ms. Darby A. McCarty, Governor, Smithville Charitable Foundation.

The Gibson County Community Foundation Board of Trustees has voted to grant the $50,000 to Tulip Tree Family Health Care.  The funds will benefit the dental care program.  The board chose to address the problem of affordable dental care after reviewing the most recent United Way Comprehensive Community Assessment.  The need for affordable dental care was listed number two on the list of needs for Gibson County.

“Tulip Tree Family Health Care is very grateful to receive this grant.” said Maureen Shepherd, Administrator. “It subsidizes the costs of our dental program which will allow us to keep the cost of care affordable for uninsured and underinsured patients. Tulip Tree is one of the few providers in the area providing dental care to this population. We also hope to increase the hours when a dental hygienist is available.”  Ken Beckerman, D.D.S. and Rachel Harvey, D.D.S. see dental patients on Monday and Tuesday.” Tulip Tree Health Service is a non-profit organization committed to providing quality, affordable health care services to all residents of Gibson County.
