2003 Grant Recipients

The GCCF grant recipients for 2003 are:

 

1. Gibson County Sheriff's Department:

   $3,000 from the Toyota Fund will be supplied for the DARE and pre-DARE Education Program during the 2003-2004 school year.

 

2. South Gibson Dollars for Scholars:

   $3,000 will be presented from the Toyota Fund for scholarships to students in south Gibson County.

 

3. Patoka Volunteer Fire Department:

   $3,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be utilized for partial funding of turn out gear and equipment.

 

4. East Gibson Dollars for Scholars:

   $4,000 will be contributed from the Toyota Fund for four $1,000 scholarships.

 

5. White River Township Volunteer Fire Department:

   $3,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be used for partial funding of pagers for firefighters.

 

6. Oakland City Fire Department:

   $3,000 will be granted from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding for the purchase of search and rescue equipment.

 

7. Arts Council of Gibson County, Inc.:

   $2,500 from the Toyota Fund will be provided for funding of four "Informances" for Gibson County K through 6th grade students, a band festival, and workshop for Gibson County junior and senior high school band students.

 

8. Princeton Area Dollars for Scholars:

   $3,000 will be donated from the Toyota Fund for funding to award scholarships to seniors at Princeton Community High School.

 

9. Junior Achievement of Southwestern Indiana, Inc.:

   $4,000 from the Toyota Fund will be distributed for partial funding to introduce the "Excellence in Ethics" program to students throughout Gibson County.

 

10. Gibson County Rescue Service:

   $3,000 will be given from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding for underwater communication equipment and dry suits with accessories.

 

11. Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra:

   $2,400 from the Toyota Fund will be given for funding to conduct Youth Concerts and two in-school performances for Gibson County students.

 

12. Gibson County CASA, Inc.:

   $1,500 will be distributed from the Toyota Fund for funding to pay the registration fees for six CASA volunteers to attend the 2004 National CASA Conference in Washington DC.

 

13. Tulip Tree Family Health Care:

   $1,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be donated for partial funding to purchase equipment and instruments for the establishment of a dental clinic.

 

14. Gibson County Area Rehabilitation Centers, Inc.:

   $366.98 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund, $75.76 from the Trustee Fund, and $557.26 from the Ray J. Watson & Ruth L. Watson Memorial Fund will be provided for partial funding to purchase Power Point equipment to educate the community concerning the organization's program.

 

15. Gibson County Council on Aging:

   $500 will be granted from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding to repair the inside walls in the restroom of the Gibson County Senior Center.

 

16. Barger-Richardson Learning Resource Center:

   $1,054 from the Toyota Fund and $1,524.58 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be used for partial funding for networking and web development in order to digitalize historical records in Gibson County.

 

17. North Gibson Youth Coalition:

   $1,054 from the Toyota Fund and $1,500 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be contributed for partial funding for YMCA Camp Carson facility rental and updating initiative materials in order to conduct transition camps.

 

18. Gibson County Step Ahead, Inc.:

   $2,000 will be utilized from the Toyota Fund for partial funding of the SMART program.

 

*** $1,000 scholarships will be awarded from the Toyota Fund to each of the three alternates for the Lilly Scholarships for 2003. (Total amount granted: $3,000)
