2004 Grant RecipientsThe GCCF grant recipients of 2004 are:
1. Tulip Tree Family Health Center: $5,000 will be supplied from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding to hire a part-time dentist for the clinic.
2. East Gibson Dollars for Scholars: $4,000 from the Toyota Fund will be presented for funding of scholarships for students at Wood Memorial High School.
3. South Gibson Dollars for Scholars: $3,000 will be utilized from the Toyota Fund for funding of scholarships for students at Gibson Southern High School.
4. Gibson County CASA, Inc.: $1,500 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be contributed for funding for registration fees for six CASA volunteers to attend the 2005 National CASA Conference in order to enhance their child advocacy skills.
5. Visiting Nurse Association: $3,000 will be used from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding to offset the cost of medication and treatment for VNA Hospice patients residing in Gibson County.
6. Mount Olympus Community Center, Inc.: $3,184.59 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be granted for funding to renovate the community center kitchen, including the purchase and installation of cabinetry, countertops, sink, stove, refrigerator, and water heater.
7. The Salvation Army (Tools for School): $1,500 will be provided from the Toyota Fund for funding to purchase backpacks and school supplies for Gibson County children in need.
8. Tales & Scales, Inc.: $3,000 will be donated from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding to bring the Imagine That! performing arts residency to nine Gibson County elementary schools, including pre-planning and design, workshops and student performances, performances by Tales & Scales, supplies and materials, instruments, and transportation expenses.
9. Gibson General Health Foundation: $3,500 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be distributed for funding to purchase the Diabetes Management System software.
10. Princeton Public Library (Digital Projector Purchase): $3,434.51 will be given from the Toyota Fund for funding of the purchase of a digital projector, notebook computer, ancillary equipment, and software for marketing, educational, and training purposes.
11. Gibson County Sheriff's Department: $3,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be given for funding to offset the cost of books, t-shirts, and completion certificates of DARE and pre-DARE drug awareness and prevention programs.
12. The Salvation Army (Summer Recess): $3,500 will be distributed from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding for the Summer Recess summer day camp for Princeton area school children.
13. Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra: $3,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be donated for funding to conduct orchestral concerts for Gibson County students in the third through fifth grades.
14. Junior Achievement of Southwestern Indiana, Inc.: $2,500 will be provided from the Toyota Fund for partial funding to purchase hands-on economic activity materials to present the Global Marketplace program to sixth grade students in Gibson County.
15. Habitat for Humanity of Gibson County: $5,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be granted for partial funding to purchase building materials and for professional labor to construct two Habitat homes in Gibson County.
16. Youth Resources of Southwestern Indiana: $2,500 will be used from the Friends of Gibson County for partial funding of 2005 High School TeenPower program on substance abuse awareness.
17. Emmy Corp. dba Gibson County Animal Services: $1,245 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be contributed for funding to organize and host a seminar that educates human service providers, animal protection providers, and law enforcement officials about the connection between animal cruelty and violence toward humans, including speaker fees, facility rental, and program supplies.
18. Gibson County Prosecutor's Office: $4,500 will be utilized from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding to produce a brochure to be distributed to the public about the methamphetamine problem in Gibson County and methods of prevention.
19. Somerville Volunteer Fire Department: $3,200 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be presented for funding to purchase two fire hoses.
20. American Red Cross of Gibson County: $760 will be supplied from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding to purchase a solar-powered weather station.
21. Arts Council of Gibson County, Inc.: $3,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be supplied for partial funding of the High School Choral Festival, the Middle and High School Band Festivals, and "Informances" for Gibson County elementary school students.
22. North Gibson Youth Coalition: $3,000 will be presented from the friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding of YMCA Camp Carson for Transition Camps.
23. Gibson County Rescue Service: $1,700 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be utilized for partial funding of the purchase of emergency medical equipment.
24. Gibson County ARC (New Special Olympic Equipment): $1,456.41 will be contributed from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding of sports equipment for Special Olympics activities.
25. Gibson County ARC (Life Skills Picnic Shelter): $1,200 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be used for funding of shelter and concrete.
26. Princeton Deanery Schools Council: $5,000 will be granted from the Toyota Fund for partial funding to hire and purchase teaching materials for a part-time special education instructor to serve Holy Cross, St. James, St. Joseph, and Sts. Peter & Paul Schools.
27. Princeton Public Library (Implementing Strategic Plans): $2,600 from the Toyota Fund will be provided for partial funding for a marketing strategist to facilitate the design and implementation of a marketing plan for the library and for the development of a corporate identity package and logo.
28. Gibson County Council on Aging: $80 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund, $255 from the Trustee Fund, and $965 from the Ray J. Watson & Ruth L. Watson Memorial Fund will be donated for funding to purchase an automated external defibrillator for the senior center. (Total amount granted: $1,300)
29. Gibson County Step Ahead, Inc.: $3,355.49 will be distributed from the Toyota Fund for partial funding to support the S.M.A.R.T. tutoring program for elementary school children in the north and south areas of the county, including coordinator fees, snacks for program participants, and administrative costs.
30. Lyles Station Historic Preservation Corp.: $500 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be given for partial funding to purchase a sign for the historical events timeline display.
*** $1,500 scholarships will be awarded from the Toyota Fund to each of the two alternates for the Lilly scholarships of 2005 and $1,000 will be given from the Toyota Fund for Youth Philanthropy training. (Total amount granted: $4,000) |
