2005 Grant Recipients
The GCCF grant recipients of 2005 are:
1. Princeton Area Dollars for Scholars: $3,000 from the Toyota Fund will be supplied for funding of scholarships for students at Princeton High School.
2. East Gibson Dollars for Scholars: $4,000 will be presented from the Toyota Fund for funding of scholarships for students at Wood Memorial High School.
3. The Salvation Army (Tools for School): $1,500 from the Toyota Fund will be utilized for funding to purchase backpacks and school supplies for Gibson County children in need.
4. Gibson County Sheriff's Department: $3,000 will be contributed from the Toyota Fund for funding to offset the cost of books, t-shirts and completion certificates of DARE and pre-DARE drug awareness and prevention programs.
5. South Gibson Dollars for Scholars: $4,000 from the Toyota Fund will be used for funding of scholarhsips for students at Gibson Southern High School.
6. Gibson County CASA, Inc.: $1,500 will be granted from the Toyota Fund for funding for registration fees for six CASA volunteers to attend the 2006 National CASA Conference in order to enhance their child advocacy skills.
7. The Salvation Army (Summer Recess): $3,500 will be provided from the Toyota Fund for funding for the Summer Recess summer day camp for Princeton Area school children.
8. Tulip Tree Family Health Center: $7,500 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be donated for partial funding for medical screening tests, medical and office supplies, and postage.
9. Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance Indiana: $1,200 will be distributed from the Friends of Gibson County Fund to maintain a website called HoosierESource and its licenses for the period of one year.
10. Princeton Public Library: $3,130 from the Toyota Fund will be given for funding the purchase of a collection of CDs, books, videos and cassette tapes for the "Financial Literacy, First-Time Experiences" program.
11. Francisco General Baptist Church: $3,800 will be given from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for the staffing, materials, program supplies and facility costs for the Francisco Youth After School Program.
12. Gibson General Health Foundation: $4,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be distributed for funding to purchase a procedural stretcher.
13. Youth Resources of Southwestern Indiana: $1,250 will be donated from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding of 2006 High School TeenPower program on substance abuse awareness.
14. Oakland City-Columbia Township Public Library: $750 from the Toyota Fund will be provided for funding of a Community Night at the Library with funding being used for crafts, supplies and instructors.
15. Tales & Scales, Inc.: $473 will be granted from the Toyota Fund and $2,277 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding to bring performing arts residency to Gibson County elementary schools, including pre-planning and design, workshops and student performances, performances by Tales & Scales, supplies and materials, instruments, and transportation expenses. (Total amount granted: $2,750)
16. Doulos Family Services: $2,500 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be used for partial funding to organize and host the "Neighbor To Neighbor" program that moves families toward financial self-sufficiency.
17. Princeton Deanery Schools Council: $3,500 will be contributed from the Toyota Fund for partial funding to hire and purchase teaching materials for a part-time special education instructor to serve Holy Cross, St. James, St. Joseph, and Sts. Peter & Paul schools.
18. Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra: $1,750 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be utilized for partial funding to conduct orchestral concerts for Gibson County students in the third through fifth grades.
19. North Gibson Youth Coalition: $4,500 will be presented from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding of YMCA Camp Carson for Transition Camps.
20. Arts Council of Gibson County, Inc.: $3,750 from the Friends of Gibson County will be supplied for partial funding of the "Informances" and workshops for Gibson County elementary school students.
21. Boys Club of Princeton, Indiana, Inc. dba Gibson County Youth Center: $2,426 will be supplied from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding of having the main roof of the facility seal-coated.
22. Broadway Christian Church: $4,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be presented for partial funding to provide services to meet transitional needs of the families of Work Release and Home Detention clients as well as families of those incarcerated in the Gibson County Jail and families with youth involved in the juvenile justice system.
23. Community Marriage Builders: $3,000 will be utilized from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding to bring marriage enrichment programs and resources to Gibson County.
24. Visiting Nurse Association: $1,500 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be contributed for funding to offset the cost of medication and treatment for VNA Hospice patients residing in Gibson County.
25. Boys Club of Princeton, Indiana, Inc. dba Gibson County Youth Center: $1,118 will be used from the Ray J. Watson & the Ruth L. Watson Memorial Fund and $132 will be used from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding to provide an after-school study station for youth. (Total amount granted: $1,250)
26. Oakland City-Columbia Township Public Library: $277 from the Trustee Fund and $473 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be granted for partial funding of start up fees, technical support and instructional time, along with the Heritage Quest subscription to begin the Genealogy Resource Program. (Total amount granted: $750)
27. Habitat for Humanity of Gibson County: $2,500 will be provided from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding to purchase building materials and for professional labor to construct one Habitat home in Gibson County.
28. Oakland City University: $1,750 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be donated for partial funding of a Ukrainian Visiting Artist/Sculptor.
29. Gibson County Rescue Service: $2,000 will be distributed from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding of the purchase of communication equipment.
30. Princeton Firefighter Charitable Association: $1,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be given for partial funding of the required training and purchase of some of the equipment needed to conduct a Junior Fire Setter Intervention Program.
31. Youth First, Inc.: $1,750 will be given from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding of the LifeSkills Training program for the prevention and early intervention of youth substance abuse in Gibson County.
*** $1,500 scholarships will be awarded from the Toyota Fund to each of the two alternates for the 2005 Lilly Scholarships. (Total amount granted: $3,000)
