2006 Grant Recipients

The GCCF grant recipients of 2006 are:

 

1. The Salvation Army (Tools for Schools):

   $1,500 will be supplied from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding to purchase backpacks and school supplies for Gibson County children in need.

 

2. East Gibson Dollars for Scholars:

   $4,000 from the Toyota Fund will be utilized for funding of scholarships for students at Wood Memorial High School.

 

3. Gibson County Sheriff's Department:

   $3,000 will be used from the Toyota Fund for funding to offset the cost of books, t-shirts, and completion certificates of DARE and pre-DARE drug awareness and prevention programs.

 

4.Princeton Area Dollars for Scholars:

   $4,000 from the Toyota Fund will be provided for funding of scholarships for students at Princeton High School.

 

5. South Gibson Dollars for Scholars:

   $4,000 will be distributed from the Toyota Fund for funding of scholarships for students at Gibson Southern High School.

 

6. The Salvation Army (Summer Recess):

   $1,210 from the Ray J. Watson & Ruth L. Watson Fund, $300 from the Trustee Fund and $1,990 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be given for funding for the Summer Recess summer day camp for Princeton area school children. (Total amount granted: $3,500)

 

7. Arts Council of Gibson County:

   $4,500 will be donated from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding of the "Informances" and workshops for Gibson County elementary school students.

 

8. Tulip Tree Health Services:

   $5,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be granted for partial funding for medical screening tests, medical and office supplies, and postage.

 

9. Princeton Public Library (Musical Production):

   $1,500 will be contributed from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding of the musical "Into the Woods" performance in conjunction with the Summer Reading Program.

 

10. Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra:

   $1,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be presented for partial funding to conduct orchestral concerts for Gibson County students in the third through fifth grades.

 

11. Ronald McDonald House of Indiana:

   $1,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be supplied for funding to defray costs incurred by Gibson County families who are unable to pay the full cost of overnight rooms.

 

12. Gibson County Youth Center (After School Study Station):

   $2,250 will be utilized from the Toyota Fund for partial funding to provide an after-school study station for the youth.

 

13. Junior Achievement:

   $3,000 from the Toyota Fund will be used for partial funding to provide business and economic instruction to eighth grade students in Gibson County.

 

14. Oakland City - Columbia Township Public Library:

   $1,250 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund and $1,500 from the Toyota Fund will be provided to fund for partial funding of nine months of community programs. (Total amount granted: $2,750)

 

15. Special Olympics of Gibson County:

   $2,500 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be distributed for partial funding of track & field, basketball, softball, and bowling programs.

 

16. Gibson County CASA, Inc.:

   $1,000 will be given from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding of registration fees for six CASA volunteers to attend the 2007 National CASA Conference in order to enhance their child advocacy skills.

 

17. Tales & Scales:

   $2,500 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be donated for partial funding to bring performing arts residency to Gibson County elementary schools, including pre-planning and design, workshops and student performances, performances by Tales & Scales, supplies and materials, instruments, and transportation expenses.

 

18. Gibson County Animal Services:

   $2,000 will be granted from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding of educational materials, copies and transportation to events.

 

19. Princeton Public Library (Map Preservation):

   $1,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be contributed for partial funding of preservation of a map of Gibson County dated 1871.

 

20. Gibson County Council on Aging:

   $3,000 will be presented from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding of a low-floor mini-van.

 

21. Gibson County Area Rehabilitation (AED's in the Workplace):

   $1,000 will be supplied from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding of defibrillators and accessories for the GCARC Work Center and the Gerald Hall Life Skill Facility.

 

22. DOULOS Family Services:

   $1,500 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be utilized for partial funding of supplies and personnel for the Strengthening Families Program.

 

23. Gibson County Habitat for Humanity:

   $4,000 will be used from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding to purchase building materials and for professional labor to construct two Habitat homes in Gibson County.

 

24. Gibson General Health Foundation:

   $1,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be provided for partial funding of the development and implementation of the Preventing ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) Injuries program.

 

25. Community Marriage Builders:

   $2,000 will be distributed from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding to bring marriage enrichment programs and resources to Gibson County.

 

26. Fort Branch - Johnson Township Public Library:

   $1,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be given for partial funding to redo an area of the library to make it more appealing to teens.

 

27. Gibson County Area Rehabilitation (Life Skills Entrance Accessibility):

   $500 will be donated from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding to purchase an electric door opener for the Life Skills building.

 

28. North Gibson School Corporation:

   $2,054 from the Toyota Fund and $2,946 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be granted for partial funding to provide books to the students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. (Total amount granted: $5,000)

 

29. Visiting Nurse Association:

   $2,000 will be contributed from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding to purchase a home-based monitoring station and devices to connect to the station.

 

30. Gibson County Youth Center (Roof Project):

   $1,500 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be presented for partial funding to replace the roof membrane over the entrance and the game room area.

 

31. Gibson County Rescue Service:

   $1,000 from the Friends of Gibson County will be supplied for partial funding to purchase a diver dry suit and underwater communication full face mask.

 

32. Heartland Health Care Foundation:

   $1,500 will be utilized from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding to provide a trained educator to work with senior groups and individuals on Medicare Part D.

 

33. Lowell Elementary School:

   $1,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be used for partial funding to purchase rewards and supplies for K-2 students who do kind acts for others.

 

***$1,500 scholarships will be awarded from the Toyota Fund to each of the two alternates for the Lilly Scholarships for 2007. (Total amount granted: $3,000)

 

***$3,964 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be used for pro-active grantmaking.
