2007 Grant RecipientsThe GCCF grant recipients of 2007 are:
1. Gibson County Sheriff's Department: $3,000 will be used from the Toyota Fund for funding to offset the cost of books, t-shirts, and completion certificates of DARE and pre-DARE drug awareness and prevention programs.
2. The Salvation Army (Tools for Schools): $1,500 will be distributed from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding to purchase backpacks and school supplies for Gibson County children in need.
3. The Salvation Army (Summer Recess): $1,286 from the Ray J. Watson & Ruth L. Watson Memorial Fund, $333 from the Trustee Fund and $1,881 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be donated for funding for the Summer Recess summer day camp for Princeton area school children. (Total amount granted: $3,500)
4. East Gibson Dollars for Scholars: $4,000 from the Toyota Fund will be provided for funding of scholarships for students at Wood Memorial High School.
5. Princeton Area Dollars for Scholars: $4,000 from the Toyota Fund will be contributed for funding of scholarships for students at Princeton High School.
6. South Gibson Dollars for Scholars: $4,000 from the Toyota Fund will be granted for funding of scholarships for students at Gibson Southern High School.
7. Youth Resources of Southwestern Indiana: $2,000 will be used from the Toyota Fund for funding for the Teenpower Programs for Gibson County students.
8. Gibson County Youth Center (After School Study Station): $3,000 from the Toyota Fund will be donated for funding to provide an after-school study station for youth.
9. Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra: $1,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be distributed for funding to conduct orchestral concerts for Gibson County students in the third through fifth grades.
10. North Gibson Youth Coalition: $3,985 from the Toyota Fund and $3,015 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be granted for funding of the fifth and eighth grade transition camps. (Total amount granted: $7,000)
11. Girl Scouts of Raintree Council: $1,500 will be contributed from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding of the Discovering You program.
12. Lyles Station Historic Preservation: $4,070 will be used from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding of the school tutoring program.
13. Oakland City - Columbia Township Public Library: $6,850 will be given from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding of the Learning to be One Program.
14. Tales & Scales: $3,500 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be distributed for funding to bring performing arts residency to Gibson County elementary schools.
15. Gibson County CASA, Inc.: $1,500 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be donated for funding of registration fees for six CASA volunteers to attend the 2008 National CASA Conference in order to enhance their child advocacy skills.
16. Junior Achievement: $4,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be provided for funding to provide business and economic instruction to high school students in Gibson County.
17. WNIN Ready to Learn: $3,870 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be granted for funding of the Ready to Read Together Program.
18. Gibson County Habitat for Humanity: $5,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be contributed for funding of the Senior Repair Program.
19. Holy Cross School: $2,000 will be donated from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding of the Accelerated Reading Program.
20. Heartland Health Care Foundation: $4,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be used for funding of the Flour Power program.
21. Tulip Tree Health Services: $6,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be provided for funding for the Children's Health & Safety Day at the Park.
22. National Multiple Sclerosis Society: $800 will be granted from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding of the Physical Outreach Program.
23. Gibson General Health Foundation: $1,200 will be donated from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for partial funding of the Medical Blanket Warmer.
*** $1,500 scholarships will be awarded from the Toyota Fund to each of the two alternates for the Lilly Scholarship for 2007. (Total amount granted: $3,000)
*** $4,079 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be used for pro-active grant making. |
