2008 Grant RecipientsThe GCCF grant recipients of 2008 are:
1. Lyles Station Historic Preservation: $3,375 will be distributed from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding for new solar shades to protect historic displays.
2. The Salvation Army (Tools for Schools): $1,500 will be given from the Toyota Fund for funding to purchase backpacks and school supplies for Gibson County children in need.
3. START - Broadway Christian Church: $5,200 will be donated from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding to support the Matrix Model treatment program.
4. East Gibson Dollars for Scholars: $4,000 from the Toyota Fund will be provided for funding of scholarships for students at Wood Memorial High School.
5. Princeton Area Dollars for Scholars: $4,000 from the Toyota Fund will be used for funding of scholarships for students at Princeton High School.
6. South Gibson Dollars for Scholars: $4,000 from the Toyota Fund will be granted for funding of scholarships for students at Gibson Southern High School.
7. South Gibson Community Teen Center - Fifth Quarter: $1,150 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be given for funding to provide activities at the Teen Center/Fifth Quarter.
8. Oakland City - Columbia Township Public Library: $1,500 from the Toyota Fund will be distributed for funding of the GED Program.
9. Fort Branch - Johnson Township Public Library: $4,040 will be granted from the Toyota Fund for funding of continued computer updates at the library.
10. The Salvation Army (Summer Recess): $1,459 from the Ray J. Watson & Ruth L. Watson Memorial Fund, $369 from the Trustee Fund and $1,672 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be provided for funding for the Summer Recess summer day camp for Princeton area school children. (Total amount granted: $3,500)
11. Girl Scouts of Raintree Council: $2,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be donated for funding for the Discovering You program.
12. Patoka River Longbeards - NWTF: $1,000 will be granted from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding for the JAKES (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics, and Sportsmanship) program.
13. Gibson County Area Rehabilitation Center: $1,874 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be given for funding of portable partitions for the Transitional Services Program.
14. Gibson County Sheriff's Department: $3,000 will be provided from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding to offset the cost of books, t-shirts, and completion certificates of DARE and pre-DARE drug awareness and prevention programs.
15. Gibson County Habitat for Humanity: $5,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be donated for funding for the Land Acquisition in the Fort Branch area.
16. Oakland City - Columbia Township Public Library: $3,500 from the Toyota Fund will be distributed for funding of the Youth Lunch Bunch Book Club.
17. Columbia Township Fire Department: $5,000 will be contributed from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding to help purchase a fire truck for the township.
18. Ride Solution: $8,400 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be provided for funding to help purchase a handicap accessible, small transit bus.
19. Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra: $2,000 will be granted from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding to conduct orchestral concerts for Gibson County students in the third through fifth grades.
20. Ronald McDonald House of Indiana: $1,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be donated for funding to assist Gibson County families staying at the House.
21. Gibson County Literacy Coalition: $2,443 from the Toyota Fund and $557 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be given for funding of GED testing fees. (Total amount granted: $3,000)
22. Town of Haubstadt: $10,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be donated for funding of the renovations of the Haubstadt Community Center.
23. WNIN Ready to Learn: $3,870 will be given from the Friends of Gibson County Fund for funding of the Ready to Read Together program.
*** $1,500 scholarships will be awarded from the Toyota Fund to each of the two alternates for the Lilly Scholarships for 2009. (Total amount granted: $3,000)
***$3,272 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be used to create an emergency grant fund. |
