2009 Grant Recipients

The GCCF grant recipients of 2009 are:

 

1. East Gibson Dollars for Scholars:

   $2,000 from the Toyota Fund will be used for funding of scholarships for students at Wood Memorial High School.

 

2. Princeton Area Dollars for Scholars:

   $2,000 from the Toyota Fund will be distributed for the funding of scholarships at Princeton High School.

 

3. South Gibson Dollars for Scholars:

   $2,000 will be given from the Toyota Fund for the funding of scholarships at Gibson Southern High School.

 

4. Ride Solution:

   $8,362 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund and $170 from the Gibson Board of Trustees Fund will be provided for funding to help purchase a new vehicle that will be used to expand the public transportation services. (Total amount granted: $8,532)

 

5. Gibson County Sheriff's Department:

   $1,342 from the Toyota Fund and $508 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be granted for funding to offset the cost of books, t-shirts, and completion certificates of DARE and Pre-DARE drug awareness and prevention programs. (Total amount granted: $1,850)

 

6. Ronald McDonald House of Indiana:

   $1,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be given for funding to assist Gibson County families staying at the House.

 

7. Girl Scouts of Raintree Council:

   $1,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be donated for funding of the Discovering You program.

 

8. Gibson County Habitat for Humanity:

   $682 from the Ray J. (Jerry) Watson and Ruth L. Watson Memorial Fund and $1,818 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be distributed for funding for the 2010 houses built. (Total amount granted: $2,500)

 

9. Gibson County Area Rehabilitation Center:

   $3,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be provided for funding to help purchase a vehicle.

 

10. Patoka River Longbeards - NWTF:

   $750 from the Toyota Fund will be given for funding for the JAKES (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics, and Sportsmanship) program.

 

11. Albion Fellows Beacon Center:

   $2,400 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be granted for funding of the Outreach Campaign.

 

12. Big Brothers Big Sisters:

   $206 from the Melvin Oing Memorial Fund and $2,194 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be donated for funding of the mentoring program. (Total amount granted: $2,400)

 

13. Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra:

   $1,500 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be distributed for funding to conduct orchestral concerts for Gibson County students in the third through fifth grades.

 

14. Muscular Dystrophy Association:

   $500 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be provided for funding of the MDA Summer Camp.

 

15. Domestic Violence Task Force:

   $2,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be given for funding to pay for the Silent Witness Display and creation of a webpage.

 

16. Oakland City - Columbia Township Public Library:

   $600 from the Toyota Fund will be granted for funding of the Storytime Program.

 

17. Princeton Public Library:

   $2,000 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be provided for funding of the book preservation project.

 

18. Gibson County Council on Aging:

   $750 from the Friends of Gibson County Fund will be distributed for funding to purchase a new ice machine.

 

19. North Gibson Youth Coalition:

   $2,500 from the Toyota Fund will be given for funding of the Transitional Camps.

 

20. Junior Achievement of Southwestern Indiana:

   $1,000 from the Toyota Fund will be donated for funding of the Oakland City Kindergarten - 3rd Program.

  

*** $1,500 scholarships will be awarded from the Friends of Gibson County Fund to each of the two alternates for the 2009 Lilly Scholarships.  (Total amount granted: $3,000)
