Sutch-Briner Memorial Scholarship Fund
As a member of the Gibson County Community Foundation's board of trustees, Chuck Briner knew the benefits of starting an endowment fund with the foundation.  When he and his wife, Cathy, wanted to memorialize his mother, who passed away in November 2006, they decided to establish a scholarship fund.  But instead of simply recognizing his mother, Chuck and Cathy decided to memorialize three individuals who made a large impact on their lives. Melvin Oing Memorial Fund
After Melvin Oing passed away, his wife Winnie decided to make donations to some of his favorite charities, including the Gibson County Community Foundation. "When the Foundation was formed 15 years ago, Mel was right there, a founding member of our board of trustees," says Marlene Obert, the board's current president. "He was a dedicated and generous man who worked tirelessly to get the Foundation off the ground, no small task in those early days." Learn More...


Habitat for Humanity
For twelve years, the Gibson County Habitat for Humanity has been helping deserving families become homeowners, many for the first time.  Homes have been built in Fort Branch, Haubstadt, Oakland City and Princeton, where the organization's twelfth house is currently being constructed.
