Grantmaking
Overview Eligibility The Women's Fund of Gibson County welcomes grant applications from non-profit organizations that are tax-exempt under sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code and from governmental agencies serving Gibson County women. Applications from other non-profit organizations to carry out charitable projects or activities that address issues facing women in Gibson County may be accepted. In some cases, organizations without the 501(c)(3) designation may be required to obtain a fiscal sponsor. Grant Program Orientation Meeting Now Being Offered New Information A Grant Program Orientation will not be offered in the same manner as in previous years. In lieu of the group orientation, prospective grant applicants are invited to schedule a meeting with the Foundation's director, Tami Muckerheide, to receive an overview of the funding opportunity and to ask specific questions. Contact Tami at 812.386.8082 or tami@gibsoncountyfoundation.org to schedule an orientation meeting. Fiscal Sponsors Proposals submitted by an entity under the auspices of another agency (designated as a 501(c)(3) public charity) must include a written statement signed by the agency's board president on behalf of the board of directors agreeing to act as the entity's fiscal sponsor, to receive grant monies if awarded, and to oversee the proposed project. Project Areas Supported by the Women's Fund The Women's Fund of Gibson County is used to make yearly grants to support a variety of projects or programs serving women in Gibson County, such as programs that prevent domestic violence, secure family-supporting jobs, promote health and education, and develop confidence. Deliberation The Women's Fund Advisory Board will review grant applications, and eligible applicants will be invited to give an oral presentation of their projects at the Women's Fund annual meeting in September. Fund members will conduct a vote at the conclusion of the presentations and the organization's project receiving the majority of votes will be awarded the grant. No lobbying or soliciting of advisory board members or fund members will be permitted. Reporting Procedures If the funding request is approved, the organization is required to submit a six-month progress report and a final report at project completion. Appropriate forms will be provided. |
