Grantmaking
Overview
Grant proposals are accepted once each year according to our grant cycle. Proposal requirements may change from year to year; therefore, grantseekers are advised to revisit this page prior to beginning the grant application process. Grants are normally given as one-time support of a project but may be considered for additional support for expansions or outgrowths of an initial project. Visit our Submit a Grant Proposal page for instructions on submitting a proposal.
Grant Cycle
We consider proposals for grants on a yearly cycle which begins each June. At the start of each cycle, a notice is mailed to nonprofit organizations that have applied for grants in the past, have received grants in the past, or have otherwise requested notification of the start of each cycle. The requirements and instructions provided here are to be considered current and accurate only for the duration of the Foundation's grant cycle, which runs from June through October each year. Proposals will be accepted from June through the August deadline. Proposals submitted after the August deadline will not be considered.
Eligibility
The Women's Fund of Gibson County welcomes proposals from non-profit organizations that are tax-exempt under sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code and from governmental agencies serving Gibson County women. Proposals from other non-profit organizations to carry out charitable projects or activities that address issues facing women in Gibson County may be accepted.
Grant Program Orientation
A Grant Program Orientation will be offered shortly after the grant cycle has been announced. The next orientation is scheduled for:
Date: July 13, 2009
Time: 4:00 pm
Location: Gibson General Hospital, Princeton (Health and Education Room)
Fiscal Sponsors
Proposals submitted by an entity under the auspices of another agency must include a written statement signed by the agency's board president on behalf of the board of directors agreeing to act as the entity's fiscal sponsor, to receive grant monies if awarded, and to oversee the proposed project.
Project Areas Supported by the Women's Fund
The Women's Fund of Gibson County is used to make yearly grants to support a variety of projects or programs serving women in Gibson County, such as programs that prevent domestic violence, secure family-supporting jobs, promote health and education, and develop confidence.
Deliberation
The Women's Fund Advisory Board will complete a review and investigation of grant proposals. Those that are deemed eligible will be invited to give an oral presentation of their projects at the Women's Fund annual meeting in September. Fund members will conduct a vote at the conclusion of the presentations and the organization's project receiving the majority of votes will be awarded the grant. No lobbying or soliciting of advisory board members or fund members will be permitted.
Reporting Procedures
If the grant proposal is approved, the organization is required to submit a six-month progress report and a final report at project completion. Appropriate forms will be provided.
