Grantmaking

Overview
Gibson Women's Fund LogoGrant proposals are accepted once each year according to our grant cycle. Proposal requirements may change from year to year; therefore, grantseekers are advised to revisit this page prior to beginning the grant application process. Grants are normally given as one-time support of a project but may be considered for additional support for expansions or outgrowths of an initial project. Visit our Submit a Grant Application page for instructions on submitting a funding request.

Grant Cycle New Information
We consider grant applications on a yearly cycle which begins each June. At the start of the June 2010 grant cycle, a notice will be mailed to nonprofit organizations that have applied for grants in the past, have received grants in the past, or have otherwise requested notification of the start of each cycle.  However, notices will no longer be mailed beginning in 2011.  In order to receive information about future grant cycles, please sign up by clicking on the box below.

The requirements and instructions provided on this page are to be considered current and accurate only for the duration of the Fund's grant cycle, which runs from June through September each year.  Grant applications will be accepted from June through the August deadline.  Applications submitted after the August deadline will not be considered.

Eligibility
The Women's Fund of Gibson County welcomes grant applications from non-profit organizations that are tax-exempt under sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code and from governmental agencies serving Gibson County women.  Applications from other non-profit organizations to carry out charitable projects or activities that address issues facing women in Gibson County may be accepted.  In some cases, organizations without the 501(c)(3) designation may be required to obtain a fiscal sponsor.

Grant Program Orientation Meeting Now Being Offered New Information
A Grant Program Orientation will not be offered in the same manner as in previous years.  In lieu of the group orientation, prospective grant applicants are invited to schedule a meeting with the Foundation's director, Tami Muckerheide, to receive an overview of the funding opportunity and to ask specific questions.  Contact Tami at 812.386.8082 or tami@gibsoncountyfoundation.org to schedule an orientation meeting.

Fiscal Sponsors
Proposals submitted by an entity under the auspices of another agency (designated as a 501(c)(3) public charity) must include a written statement signed by the agency's board president on behalf of the board of directors agreeing to act as the entity's fiscal sponsor, to receive grant monies if awarded, and to oversee the proposed project.

Project Areas Supported by the Women's Fund
The Women's Fund of Gibson County is used to make yearly grants to support a variety of projects or programs serving women in Gibson County, such as programs that prevent domestic violence, secure family-supporting jobs, promote health and education, and develop confidence.

Deliberation
The Women's Fund Advisory Board will review grant applications, and eligible applicants will be invited to give an oral presentation of their projects at the Women's Fund annual meeting in September.  Fund members will conduct a vote at the conclusion of the presentations and the organization's project receiving the majority of votes will be awarded the grant.  No lobbying or soliciting of advisory board members or fund members will be permitted.

Reporting Procedures
If the funding request is approved, the organization is required to submit a six-month progress report and a final report at project completion. Appropriate forms will be provided.
